The farewell letter from Apostle Paul Empty The farewell letter from Apostle Paul

2 Timothy a farewell letter of sorts. Paul has been
imprisoned again, but instead of being merely under house arrest (as in
his first imprisonment), this time he is in a dungeon, chained like a
common criminal. Paul's loneliness shows in this letter, as he mentions
that a number of people had deserted him, while others simply weren't
around. In addition, he obviously yearns for a visit from Timothy.

Paul knew that the end was near for him. And yet his tone in this letter is
still one which exalts the message of God's grace, and the proclamation
of that message. It was that gospel that allowed Paul "to be content
whatever the circumstances" (Philippians 4:12)

O Holy Spirit, today I am reminded of those who have brought your Word to me. For the parents, grandparents, and friends who faithfully shared your Word with me, I thank you.
For those of them who are still alive, grant them grace and every spiritual blessing. For those of them who have received their reward in heaven, I eagerly await a joyful reunion with them. Grant that I may do for others what they have done for me. Amen.
